Overview
The Valley Center City Planning Commission is composed of nine members. Seven of the members live within the City limits of Valley Center and two live within three miles of the City. The Planning Commission also serves as the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Responsibilities
As the Planning Commission, the members are responsible for the orderly planning of the City and the area within three miles of the City. They accomplish this by the adaptation of the Comprehensive Plan and recommendations upon rezoning and special use applications. The Planning Commission also reviews and approves all plats within the City and our Subdivision Area of Influance.

As the Board of Zoning Appeals, the members are responsible for the hearing and deciding upon appeals alleging an error of a decision and upon application for a variance or a conditional use.
