The Valley Center Fire Department is comprised of two full-time Firefighters who are on duty Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, with 28 paid on-call Firefighters. Our response areas include the City of Valley Center and surrounding townships. The Fire Department is headed by Chief Lonnie Tormey who is a 32-year veteran of the Department.

We run automatic aid response with the Sedgwick County Fire Department to areas outside of our city limits. We also run mutual aid response with Colwich Fire Department and Mount Hope Fire Department. We have a fleet of six vehicles consisting of one engine, one engine / tender, two squads, one tender, and a duty officer's pickup truck. We received a AFG grant for our engine / tender in February of 2004.
